The Ports of Genoa. Pra’, Savona and Vado play a vital role in the global supply chain as maritime centre of cargo handling excellence and as a modern logistics platform serving the shipping community worldwide. Offering over 160 deep-sea, short-sea, feeder and ro-ro regular liner services, operated by all the major shipping lines and alliances, the Ports of Genoa are connected to over 450 ports worldwide.

The Western Ligurian Sea Port Authority port cluster handles approximately one third of total Italian gateway container traffic, thereby firmly establishing its leadership as premier Italian port and as one of Europe’s top maritime hubs. Sitting at the crossroads of the major international trade routes, Asia/America and intra-Mediterranean, the Ports of Genoa and Savona-Vado are a key strategic asset for both the Italian and central-southern European economies overall.

In addition, the multi-service Ligurian port cluster features a wide selection of dedicated terminals, managed by top international terminal operating companies, equipped to cater for all key commodity sectors, namely, general cargo (cellulose and timber, fruit and perishable goods),rolling stock (lorries, new motor vehicles, machinery, railway cars) or special cargos (project cargo, heavy-lift, oversize cargo).

The Ports of Genoa and Savona-Vado also play a key role in the supply chain of raw materials serving the manufacturing and energy industries in Northern Italy. The terminals provide handling and storage solutions for all types of dry bulk, from coal to cement, cereals to minerals, efficiently and in compliance with the highest standards of environmental protection.

Liquid bulk accounts for approximately one third of tonnage handled at the Ports of Genoa which are strategically located for the supply of crude oil to the oil refineries in the hinterland, whilst dedicated terminals offer a range of options in handling facilities and tank storage for all types of petroleum and chemical products, vegetable oils and food and beverage.
