The Ports of Genova, Prà, Savona and Vado reported total cargo volumes (excluding industrial products) of 5,211723 tons in October 2020, a -4.9% dip compared to the corresponding period of the previous year, but a +21.7% increase on September 2020, and a fall of -15.5% on the first ten months of 2019, registering a total of 46,450,041 tons.

Container throughput recorded by the Ports of Genoa dropped by -4% on the month of October 2019 and by -9.4% on the first ten months of the year, for a total of 2,039,671 teu which, to date, does not include box traffic handled by the new Bettolo-Genoa Mediterranean Gateway Terminal which opened in the latter part of the month.

The inauguration of the new dedicated container facility consolidates Genoa's strategic role as a modern logistics platform serving Northern Italy's leading industrial and consumer centres.

The cruise and ferry passenger shipping industry continues to be severely affected by the global public health emergency, and in the Ports of Genoa the month-on-month passenger throughput slumped by -79,4% after 3 months of moderate growth.
