The Economic Affairs Officer of the Embassy of Lithuania in Italy, Laura Sereniene, met with the Western Ligurian Sea Port Authority President, Paolo Emilio Signorini, on 23 June in the historic headquarters of Palazzo San Giorgio.
The meeting focused on the further development of rail freight corridors, in conjunction with the promotion of seaborne trade flows across the Genoese port, between Northern Italy and the Baltic State which plays a strategic role as import/export gateway between Europe and Asia. Within this framework, the participants pledged their support to boost trade relations between the Republic of Lithuania and the Ports of Genoa, capitalising upon the multimodal services which connect the Ligurian capital with the comprehensive network of inland terminals stretching across Northern Italy and Central Europe. The fact-finding mission on the part of the Lithuanian Embassy will be followed in the autumn by an official visit to Italy on the part of a Government delegation for transport and logistics to forge closer bilateral cooperation between the two nations.
Counsellor Sereniene was accompanied to Genoa by the President of Fratelli Cosulich Group, Augusto Cosulich, the Honorary Consul of the Republic di Lithuania in Genoa, Massimo Manuelli, and Franco Alzetta CEO of the construction company Rizzani de Eccher.
