On his first official visit to Genoa, the new US Consul General in Milan, Douglass Benning, was received at the Port Authority landmark headquarters of Palazzo San Giorgio by Government Commissioner Paolo Piacenza.
The discussion highlighted Genoa and Savona-Vado Ligure's strategic role as top Mediterranean port and fourth port in Europe in terms of export volumes to the United States, with an added focus on future developments across the Ports of Genoa and an update on the sizable 3 billion euro infrastructure investment programme underway. Topics addressed included clean energy transition and smart logistics. Today's meeting marks a further step in the successful long-established collaboration between the Ports of Genoa and the United States.
