A record year for Genoa’s Christopher Columbus Airport: Italy’s fastest growing airport

Genoa’s International Airport outranked other leading Italian airports in terms of passenger growth as it welcomed 1,455,000 passengers in 2018 , a +16.5% advance on the previous year, compared to Naples (+15.8%), Palermo (+14.8%), Bolzano (+14.3%), Verona (+11.6%) and Milan Malpensa (+11.5%). These are the latest figures to have been released by Assaeroporti, the Italian Association of Airport Operators.

2019 is poised to represent another turning point for the Genoese hub: Volotea has recently announced a new flight to Pantelleria for the forthcoming summer, in addition to a selection of direct flights to new destinations, including Malaga, Malta and Corfù. The Spanish airline is scheduled to offer a total of 450,000 tickets from Genoa , that is, an additional 35,000 seats on sale, +8%, over the previous year.

Christopher Columbus Airport has in addition announced new direct flights to Kiev (Ukraine) and Tirana (Albania), to operated by the Italian airline Ernest Airlines, as of 16 March and 2 April respectively.
