The Liguria Region headquarters hosted the Steering Committee meeting of the EU LNG Facile Project (Interreg Italy-France Maritime programme) which brings together the Corsica and Var Chambers of Commerce and the Liguria, Tuscany and Sardinia Port Authorities Genoa, 19 November 2019 – One of the prime objectives of the project is to reduce the use of fossil fuels in the ports, in compliance with Directive 2014/94/EU, and to identify optimal proposals regarding the installation of LNG refuelling stations for both land and sea transport. On the basis of an assessment of the legislation in force and in line with safety regulations, the project foresees the implementation and testing of mobile filling stations for the refuelling of LNG to trucks, terminal handling equipment and vessels. Demonstrations are to be organised across “Demo Days” targeted at port and logistic operators, alongside public awareness campaigns set to provide the local community with information on the benefits which the new technologies and the alternative fuels can provide in terms of port sustainability.
