Planned retrofitting activities to the Cesare Imperiale Viaduct, the 300-metre waterfront promenade connecting Ponte dei Mille to Ponte Andrea Doria in Stazioni Marittime’s cruise terminal area, accessed by the over 1 million passengers yearly who choose Genoa as a cruise destination, have commenced.
The project underway is designed to upgrade resistance in the road bridge across cutting-edge techniques, including the insertion of steel beams and girders, in addition to the installation of new underground public utility service conduits, replacement of the damaged glass barriers, and the introduction of new plants and flower beds and a renewed irrigation system.
The construction works have been planned in different stages to create minimal disruption to the pedestrian zone of the Genoa Stazioni Marittime Cruise Terminal and are scheduled to be completed by the beginning of August, prior to the height of the cruise passenger season.
