The Port Authority President at the opening ceremony of the 62nd edition of the International Boat Show in Genoa.
"We are investing in the leisure marine industry to meet the future challenges posed by the advent of ultra-large superyachts and by an increasingly greener approach towards the construction of boats powered by clean energy," - announced President Signorini. "Yacht upsizing has boosted major investments in terms of our port accessibility by sea: we have extended quay lines, demolished and reconstructed piers, released additional areas for shipyard activities and, thanks to these infrastructure works, a new marine leisure hub takes shape in Genoa for both Italian and international operators. As a testament to our firm commitment to this vibrant sector, it is important to highlight the installation of cold ironing facilities in the drydocks, the only ship-to-shore power supply plant fully operational in Italy."
The Boat Show opened with the traditional flag-raising ceremony and a tribute on the part of the "Nave Rizzo", the Italian Navy FREMM frigate, which sailed along the waterfront prior to the welcoming addresses delivered by the national government, local authorities and industry association representatives.
