Screen Icon Sofia Loren will serve as Godmother.
The Port of Genoa will provide the spectacular backdrop on 9 June 2018 to the christening of the new flagship MSC Seaview, dedicated to Italy and set to sail across the Mediterranean Sea.
Film star Sophia Loren, godmother to all the MSC cruiseships, will attend the glittering ceremony in Genoa of the 15th vessel of the cruiseship fleet. The screen legend will be flanked by Michelle Hunziker, the Italian TV presenter who has been invited to host the gala evening. The vessel is nearing completion at the Fincantieri Shipyard in Monfalcone where a 4000-strong team is currently working to deliver the ship to Gianluigi Aponte on 4 June, before sailing to Genoa, designated homeport of the Seaview, for the launching ceremony. The ship will depart on its maiden voyage from Genoa on 10 June and will be deployed throughout the summer in the West Med. MSC Cruises has implemented a 3.5 billion euro investment plan with the Italian Fincantieri Shipyard, which foresees the construction of a total of four ships.
