The Port of Genoa’s multipurpose terminal is upgrading its handling equipment to serve the latest generation of post-Panamax vessels.
Terminal San Giorgio has signed a contract of over 5 million euros with the leading crane manufacturer Konecranes for the delivery over the next few months of a new ESP.8 (Electric Smart Powerful) mobile crane.
It is a high-performing model, bolstered by a supplementary electric-powered engine, with a working radius of 54 metres and lifting capacity of up to 150 tons.
The new eco-efficient crane is, for the moment, the first to have been ordered in Italy and offers a high degree of flexibility, both in terms of container and project cargo handling.
