Three new mega ship-to-shore cranes at APM Terminals Vado Ligure

Vado Ligure, 13 June 2019 - The three ship-to-shore cranes will join a STS and the first batch of four automated gantry cranes which have already been installed in the new Vado Gateway Terminal, delivered by the Shanghai-listed equipment manufacturer Shanghai Zhenhua Heavy Industries Co. Ltd (ZPMC). The complex installation will be followed by a series of tests to be completed in several months.

The technical specifications of this latest acquisition are staggering: the mammoth cranes are over 90 m. high, weigh approximately 1,800 t. and are capable of working vessels with containers stowed 23-wide on deck. The lifting capacity is 65 t. in twin-lift configuration and 100 t. in under hook configuration. The state-of-the-art handling equipment, together with the -16/-23 metre-depth alongside the quay 4.5 metres above sea level, can serve the latest generation of ultra-large container ships scheduled to dock at the Vado Ligure terminal which will go live on 12 December 2019.
