Inauguration of the 61st Genoa International Boat Show,
Today, 16 September, the Blue Pavilion terrace provided the stunning backdrop to the inauguration of the 61st edition of the Genoa International Boat Show.
The event opened with the traditional flag-raising ceremony and a tribute on the part of the "Nave Rizzo", the Italian Navy FREMM frigate, which sailed along the Boat Show's waterfront prior to the welcoming addresses delivered by the national and local authorities.
In his welcoming address at the opening ceremony, the President of the Western Ligurian Sea Port Authority, Paolo Emilio Signorini, illustrated the major transformation which is in progress across the Levante Waterfront: "The redevelopment of the marina has been completed and offers major opportunities for the entire area, a huge potential which we did not have until now. This is the result of the successful close collaboration between all the major players involved. The Port of Genoa is at the centre of a sizable investment programme and is also eligible for a range of benefits funded by the National Recovery and Resilience Plan, in particular those dedicated to accelerating the ecological transition in the Italian ports."
The project cited by President Signorini foresees the implementation of an extensive sustainable redevelopment programme of the Levante port area - focal point of a mix of yachting and marina services, shipyards and exhibition area - with the creation of a new vibrant urban space, for residents and tourists alike.
The opening ceremony was attended by the Italian Minister for Infrastructure and Sustainable Mobility, Enrico Giovannini, the Commander General of the Italian Coastguards, Nicola Carlone, the President of the Liguria Region, Giovanni Toti, the Mayor of Genoa, Marco Bucci, and the President of the Italian Marine Industry Association, Saverio Cecchi.
