US Consul General’s return visit to Genoa,
Following his first official visit in 2021 to Genoa as US Consul General in Milan, Robert Needham met with Port President Paolo Emilio Signorini in the historical headquarters of Palazzo San Giorgio to receive an update on the sizable 2.6 billion euro investment programme underway for the expansion and upgrade of the Port of Genoa and Savona-Vado Ligure’s facilities, with a specific focus on the environmental sustainability policies undertaken by the Port Authority.
The discussion addressed the Ports of Genoa’s strategic role at the heart of the international maritime trade routes towards North America, and the consolidation of its position as premier Mediterranean port and third port in Europe, in terms of export volumes to the United States.
