The Western Ligurian Sea Port Authority governs the vast expanse of port land in Genoa, Savona and Vado Ligure, located alongside urban communities and in a coastal area where the tourist industry represents a major economic and social asset. Within this framework, the protection and the preservation of the environment emerge forcefully in the mission of the Port Authority, which is committed to avoiding a negative impact of port activities on the surrounding urban fabric, in the firm conviction that best environmental management practices also provide an added competitive edge to the status of the port in international trade.

Prevention across water and air quality monitoring and waste management, together with the protection of natural resources through the use of renewable fuels and the promotion of energy efficiency, rank amongst the key priorities of the Port Authority .
