Genoa’s Hennebique grain silos redevelopment project showcases at MIPIM, the world’s leading real estate event, in Cannes, Cannes, 12 to 15 March 2019 - The President of the Western Ligurian Sea Port Authority, Paolo Emilio Signorini, flanked by the Mayor of Genoa, Marco Bucci, illustrated, in front of a packed audience, the details of the redevelopment project of the former granary, the Hennebique Silos, owned by the Port Authority and considered one of the most striking reinforced-concrete buildings of the 20th century, strategically located at the heart of the Old Port waterfront, overlooking the city’s historical centre.
Port of Genoa, who joined forces with the Liguria Region, to illustrate the details of a number of major urban redevelopment projects currently underway in Genoa: the restructuring of the Hennebique Silos; the urban regeneration of the historic city centre district, with property owned by the City, which sits alongside the vibrant Old Port and the University of Genoa, Prè-Visioni; and the Genoa Bridge Project – Park Quadrante, that is, the regeneration of the Val Polcevera area, which was hit by the collapse of the Morandi Bridge, and is to be redeveloped in compliance with the recent guidelines in smart and environmental sustainability. The Italian Day, on 13 March, was organised by the Italian Trade Agency, and also saw the participation of the Governor of the Liguria Region, Giovanni Toti, and the City and Regional Councillors Simonetta Cenci, Giancarlo Vinacci, Barbara Grosso and Marco Scajola.
Paolo Signorini outlined the key technical specifications of the Hennebique Grain Silos project, highlighting the opportunity to redevelop a total of 41,000 sqm, for a total volume of approximately 220,000 m3, with the flexibility of introducing a wide extension of alternative uses which range from residential, hospitality, tourism, retail, tertiary to research centres, with the sole exclusion of industrial uses. The President of the Port Authority underlined the strategic position of the prestigious art deco building along the Old Port Waterfront, overlooking the sea and the city’s historic centre, adjacent to the Cruise and Ferry Terminals and close to the Piazza Principe international railway station. In addition, he indicated the full documentation which will be supplied to bidders who submit an expression of interest in the concession: a detailed and comprehensive survey of the entire building, including interactive panoramic photographs and virtual tours, structural studies and analysis of current static conditions and simulations based on possible demolition works, BIM of the building, and guidelines already approved by the Superintendence, with approved options for demolition and construction works. The call for tender will be launched on 30 March 2019 by the Port Authority of the Western Ligurian Sea.Click to listen to the articleGenoa’s Hennebique grain silos redevelopment project showcases at MIPIM, the world’s leading real estate event, in Cannes, Cannes, 12 to 15 March 2019 - The President of the Western Ligurian Sea Port Authority, Paolo Emilio Signorini, flanked by the Mayor of Genoa, Marco Bucci, illustrated, in front of a packed audience, the details of the redevelopment project of the former granary, the Hennebique Silos, owned by the Port Authority and considered one of the most striking reinforced-concrete buildings of the 20th century, strategically located at the heart of the Old Port waterfront, overlooking the city’s historical centre.
