Today the Port Authority President, Paolo Emilio Signorini, welcomed the newly appointed Italian Vice Minister for Infrastructure and Sustainable Mobility, Alessandro Morelli, to the Port of Genoa. Their meeting focused upon the range of major infrastructure works underway, including Genoa's new planned breakwater, instrumental in consolidating the competitive edge, not only of the Ligurian seaports, but also of the Italian and Central European local economy
"Genoa is the maritime gateway into and out of Europe", declared the Vice Minister. "The breakwater should be considered a 'gift' not only to Genoa, but also to Europe" he added, as he highlighted the strategic role of the new construction.
The press conference at the Port Authority headquarters of Palazzo San Giorgio - in attendance Admiral Nicola Carlone, Marco Campomenosi MEP, Edoardo Rixi MP, the Regional Councillor for Economic Development Andrea Benveduti and Mayor Marco Bucci - was followed by an inspection by boat of the breakwater and a visit to the T.Mariotti Shipyard where, in the early hours of the morning, the Seabourn Venture hull, the luxury expedition cruise ship, was transported from Trieste by the Arclupa barge for final assembly and outfitting by the Genoese shipyard which is overseeing the entire contract with Seabourn.
