The wide-ranging large-scale infrastructure plan is in place at Genoa and Savona's passenger ports and begins to take shape across the cruise terminals. With over 40 million euros already invested to address the major challenges posed globally by the industry, the Western Ligurian Sea Port Authority is now ready to cater for the advent of the ultra-large cruise vessels and to ensure easy, safe, integrated and sustainable accessibility for the ships and the over 5 million passengers which call annually at the Ports of Genoa.
Genoa, 12 March 2024 - Numbers that count: a total of almost 2000 participants, 150 speakers, 120 stands, 180 exhibitors, 220 cruise line managers, including 90 buyers. These are some of the figures to have emerged from the first edition of the CLIA Cruise Week - Europe held at the Jean Nouvel Pavillion in the Levante Waterfront from 11 to 14 March, organised by the Cruise Lines International Association, with the support of the Liguria Region, the City of Genoa, the Western Ligurian Sea Port Authority and the Genoa Chamber of Commerce.

Genoa, 4 March 2024 – Construction has officially started this morning in Genoa on Italy’s first undersea road tunnel, set to become Europe’s largest immersed tunnel. A sophisticated feat of Italian engineering which embraces a novel approach to large-scale infrastructure projects, planned with a major focus towards the future, in compliance with strict sustainable environmental, economic and social requirements. The new tunnel will play a key role in upgrading road access to Genoa, both in terms of urban and port traffic, Italy’s premier cargo and passenger port and leading Mediterranean global maritime gateway to the major European manufacturing and consumer centres.
An official delegation of the Chinese Port of Guangzhou, led by the Director General Sun Xiuqing, met with Western Ligurian Sea Port Authority management and conducted a site inspection of the Ports of Genoa cargo terminal facilities.
New urban road infrastructure at the Port of Vado Ligure opens on schedule. The road link has been designed to ease traffic across Vado, whilst optimising port gate management of heavy vehicles in/out of Vado Gateway container terminal.
