Thursday, 9 April 2020, the commemoration of the 50th anniversary of the SS London Valour shipwreck in a gale just outside the Port of Genoa.
The memory of this tragic event, and of the rescue team who bravely saved the life of 38 crew members on board the British merchant ship, still lives on in the heart of many Genoese.
Although the Coronavirus emergency has halted the programme of events which had been scheduled for the 50th Anniversary, the Harbour Master of the Port of Genoa, hoisted the flag of the British Navy alongside its Headquarters to commemorate the heroes and the 20 casualties of 9 April 1970.
