The southern ramp of the road connecting via Guido Rossa to the Genova-Aeroporto motorway exit is now operational and is set to ease congestion which has been building up in certain parts of the city in the aftermath of the collapse of the Morandi Bridge.
7 December 2018 – Based upon the initial project timeline, the construction works were scheduled to be completed at the end of February 2019. In response to the disruption caused by the tragic collapse of the Morandi Bridge, an emergency plan was adopted to accelerate the works which were completed three months ahead of the deadline. The opening of the southern ramp of the road will reduce the traffic which has impacted severely on Genova Cornigliano and Sestri Ponente, and provides a direct connection with the Genova-Aeroporto A10 motorway exit and a fast link to the Genova-Ovest motorway exit. To date, vehicles can travel along a single lane in both directions, whilst by mid-March the northern ramp of the road will also open, thereby offering two lanes in both directions.
