A 30-million euro investment programme concluded before the scheduled completion date
Genoa, 23 December 2019 - The new double rail track in/out of the PSA terminal in Genova Pra' opens ahead of schedule. The introduction of a second rail link between the container terminal and the Prà Mare railway station is set to boost the teu capacity of the Port of Prà in its resolve to reduce rail bottlenecks and thereby equip the port facility to cater for the projected increased demand in trade. Works are now underway to complete the final stage of the port rail project by December 2020, which calls for the construction of a level crossing between rail and road traffic, a new Customs gate, two new rail tracks (from four to six) in/out of e Prà Mare station and the upgrading of the signalling and rail traffic management systems. All works continue to be coordinated and implemented by RFI and Italferr of the Italian State Railway Group, FS Italiane, with the full collaboration of the Port Authority and PSA. With the completion of the construction on the part of the Port Authority of the new direct road link connecting the A10 motorway to the Port of Prà, the railway station will be equipped with a total of seven 750-m long tracks, in line with major modern European rail infrastructure standards.
