The President of the Ports of Genoa, Paolo Emilio Signorini, was a guest speaker at the 2nd edition of the Italian-Russian Forum, “Italy-Russia: The Art of Innovation”, organised by the Associazione Conoscere Eurasia and the Liguria Region, in Genoa on 16 February 2018.
The increasingly important strategic role played by the Russian Federation in the development of economic relations between Europe and the Far East was central to President Signorini’s speech. He underlined that Genoa is currently experiencing a period of momentous change and attracting growing interest from investors, banks and international funds worldwide who wish to invest in the Region of Liguria.
“The time is right to implement strategies, investment programmes and intensify trade relations. Whilst the Chinese Government has demonstrated with the One Belt One Road Initiative its capacity to launch a strategy with a monumental economic impact, it is important to highlight the central role carried out by the Russian Federation in promoting trade relations between Europe and the Far East.
Historically part of Europe, I firmly believe that the Russian Federation can also perform an invaluable role at the highest political level to build a new Europe, which is today experiencing a period of transition, as a major economic driving force.”
