A meeting was held in New York on March 19th between Mr Signorini, accompanied by the Italian Consul General in New York, Mr Francesco Genuardi, and Mr Kevin J. O'Toole, Chairman of the Port Authority of NY&NJ.
Among the topics discussed, are the new challenges for ports posed by the introduction of the giant vessels, the promotion of intermodal transport and the development of positive port-city relations.
After the meeting and on the following day, Mr Signorini toured the commercial port, paying a visit to the main container facilities: Port Newark Container Terminal, Maher Terminal and APM Terminals.
