These functions, obligatory for all vessels of over 500 dwt, are performed by the Pilot Corps out of their headquarters at Ponte Colombo in the passenger basin of the port, in addition to two designated stations in Multedo and Prà-Voltri. Piloting is currently manned by a team of 22 experienced pilots who operate 24 hours/day 365 days/year with boats equipped to sail in all weather conditions.
